Summary:Disclosed is a water-based ink for inkjet recording which ensures at least a fixed level of pigment concentration and has excellent long-term storage stability and ejection stability; also disclosed is a method of simply and efficiently producing said water-based ink. Converting the pigment concentration to 1 mass%, the disclosed water-based ink for inkjet recording has a total content of polyvalent metal of 1.2ppm or less as an impurity in the water-based ink. The aforementioned water-based ink for inkjet recording is efficiently produced by means of contact treatment using a particulate chelate resin in which both alkali metal-type and hydrogen-type chelate-forming groups co-exist in the same molecule.
