The invention provides a portable electronic device, a planar display device and a backlight module. The portable electronic device comprises a main body and a cover capable of opening and closing relative to the main body. A keyboard is arranged on the main body. The cover comprises a display panel opposite to the main body and the backlight mould for supplying a light source to the display panel. A light emission port facing to the keyboard is arranged on the lower of the front of the cover. The backlight module comprises a light source, a first light guiding board for guiding the light form the light source to the display panel, and a second light guiding board arranged under the first light guiding board for collecting the leak light from the first light guiding board and guiding the leak light to an light transmitting port to inject to the keyboard. The function and purpose for illuminating the keyboard can be achieved by the leak light of the backlight module.
