Summary:A process for preparing terminated fibers includes the step of positioning one or more fibers (101) in a ferrule (102) having a ferrule end face (103) and at least one first alignment member (104) such that a portion of each fiber extends forward beyond said ferrule end face (103). After the first step, the process also includes the step of cleaving said portion of each fiber, thereby forming cleaved fiber end faces (106). Thereafter, the process includes the steps of interengaging a second alignment member (151) of a tool (150) with said first alignment member (104) such that a register surface (152) of said tool is aligned with said ferrule (102), and registering said cleaved fiber end faces (106) against said register surface (152). The process further includes the step of affixing said fibers (101) relative to said ferrule (102).
