Summary:The invention provides a method and a system of realizing video monitoring and a home gateway. The method comprises the following steps that the home gateway establishes an association relation of the home gateway, a user terminal and camera equipment after receiving a video monitoring service request of the user terminal; the home gateway forwards audio and video streaming messages between the user terminal and the camera equipment. According to the invention, based on the home gateway, an agent mechanism is provided for IP camera (IPC) equipment in a subnet so as to access an IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) network. Therefore, fusion and intercommunication of the IPC and an external network are realized.
