Summary: | The invention discloses a method for controlling air quantity during the production of 1,3-propylene glycol, which is operated according to the following process steps of: (1) introducing the air quantity of 500 l/hour for about 8 hours of a primary fermentation stage to ensure thalli to be fast grown and achieve a higher bacterial concentration level of OD650=8; (2) then decreasing the air quantity to 200-300 l/hour, wherein the successive high yield of 3-hydroxy propanal is stimulated at the small air quantity time of 12 hours; and (3) increasing the air quantity again to 500 l/hour, wherein fermentation is completed at the large air quantity time of 16 hours.
