Summary:The present invention relates to a sustained release tablet containing theobromine. More particularly, the present invention relates to a sustained release tablet containing theobromine, comprising a sustained release layer and an immediate release layer, wherein the sustained release layer consists of 40 to 60 wt% of theobromine as an active ingredient, and 14 to 19 wt% of a sustained release base consisting of polyethylene oxide and hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, and the immediate release layer consists of 10 to 30 wt% of theobromine as an active ingredient, and 0.5 to 2 wt% of a disintegrant consisting of one or more elements selected from among croscarmellose sodium, crospovidone and sodium starch glycolate. The sustained release tablet of the present invention effectively improves various types of cough symptoms by being taken just once per day.
