The invention provides an automated analyzer and a reagent vessel opening/closing device that allow reduction of the time period during which reagent vessels are opened unnecessarily. A reagent vessel opening/closing device 121 opens or closes the lids 101a to 101f of reagent vessels 116 to 118 when the reagent vessels 116 to 118 lie at a dispensing/stirring position 113 on a reagent vessel transfer device of an automated analyzer. The device for opening/closing the lids of reagent vessels 121 comprises: a unit base 107; a hook base 104 secured to the unit base 107; a hook-base drive unit 106 for moving the hook base 104 with respect to the unit base 107, that is, in opening/closing directions of the lids 101a to 101f of the reagent vessels; a plurality of hooks 102a to 102f attached to the hook base 104; and a plurality of motors each adapted to slide one of the hooks with respect to the hook base 104 and engage/disengage the hook with/from the lid of a reagent vessel.
