Summary:The invention discloses a hollow block for a building. The hollow block consists of a top plate, side walls and two support legs; reinforcing ribs are arranged between the two support legs; a block space is formed by taking the top plate, the side walls and the reinforcing ribs as peripheries; and one end of the block is provided with a hollow lug. The block is suitable for dry masonry of walls; and during masonry, blocks on a bottom layer are fixed on footing through concrete, blocks on an upper layer are arranged on the top plates of the block on the lower layer, the hollow lug at one end of each block is inserted into a block space of an arranged block, mortar (or an adhesive material) is coated for filling, and a wall is formed. By the hollow lugs, the transverse connection of the blocks is enhanced, and the shearing resistance, crack resistance and overall stability of the block wall are enhanced.
