The invention relates to an internal combustion engine with a supercharger. A bridge passage (41) is connected to an intermediate portion of a joining passage (23AD) connected to cylinders (11A, 11D) and an intermediate portion of a joining passage (23BC) connected to cylinders (11B, 11C) and is provided with a first opening and closing valve (V1) in an intermediate portion of the bridge passage (41). A heat exchanger (43) is provided in an EGR passage (42) which connects the bridge passage (41) and an intake passage (17). A second opening and closing valve (V2) is provided in the portion of the EGR passage (42) on the downstream side of the heat exchanger (43) and a third opening and closing valve (V3) is provided in the portion of the EGR passage (42) on the upstream side of the heat exchanger (43).
