Summary:The invention relates to a base plate for securing a rail, having a through-opening (3g, 3h), a clamping screw (10a, 10b) having a polygonal screw head, and a receptacle (3i, 3j). In order to ensure for such base plate that a polygonal screw head is always securely retained in the receptacle associated therewith, even under the effect of high torques, according to the invention, each lateral face (10d) of the screw head (10c) is associated with a contact surface (31) formed on the peripheral wall (3p) of the receptacle (3i, 3j), wherein the contact surfaces (31) of the peripheral wall (3p) are disposed at a distance from each other and a recess (3m) is formed in the peripheral wall (3p) of the receptacle (3i 3j) between each two adjacent contact surfaces (31).
