The invention discloses a multimode switching method for a heterogeneous network. The method mainly comprises the following steps of: determining a real-time service and a non-real-time service in each communication mode in the heterogeneous network, and determining priority among a plurality of communication modes in the heterogeneous network; setting respective packet loss threshold values of the real-time service and the non-real-time service in each communication mode; acquiring respective packet losses of the real-time service and the non-real-time service in each communication mode; and comparing the obtained packet losses and corresponding threshold values according to a sequence ranging from high propriety to low priority, and finding a current most proper access network for switching.
