Summary:A vehicle door lock device Ao includes an open lever 32 driven along with operation to a door handle, an open link 33 interposed between the open lever 32 and a lift lever 23 of a latch mechanism, a lock operation unit 41 that switches the open link 33 between an unlock position and a lock position, and a locking lever 53 that drives the lock operation unit 41. A retaining portion 32b is provided on the open lever 32. The retaining portion 32b retains the open link 33 in a retaining position between the lock position and the unlock position when the open link 33 is switched from the lock position to the unlock position by the locking lever 53 through the lock operation unit 41 in a state where the open link 33 is driven by the open lever 32.
