Summary: | An assembly for sterilizing air comprises a body, contains a power supply and control unit, and a pulsed gas-discharge bulb disposed on the body in a casing which is transparent to bactericidal irradiation and is capable of subjecting air to convective cooling by the production of a natural draught within the casing, wherein one or more upper level openings are provided in the upper part of the casing and lower level openings are provided in the lower part of the casing, with the relationship of parameters shown below: h*(S(upper)2*S(lowe)2/(S(upper)2+S(lower)2))=1/A *C2U0 F2, where h is the distance between the upper and lower level openings (m); S(upper) is the total area of the upper level openings (m2); S(lower) is the total area of the lower level openings (m2); A=(2-30)*10 J2/m5s2 is the energy balancing factor; C is the capacitance of a storage capacitor (F); U0 is the charge voltage of the storage capacitor (V); and F is the pulse repetition frequency of the trigger pulse generator (Hz). |
