Summary:The present invention relates to a fuel tank cover module to be installed in a motor vehicle, comprising a recess element (1), which can be inserted into an opening of the vehicle body (9) and which has a passage opening (4) in the vicinity of a bottom section (3) for accommodating a fuel filler neck and which has a flange-like fastening edge (15) that faces away from the bottom section (3) and protrudes outward. The invention is characterized by a flexibly deformable and peripheral axial sealing tab (11) that extends along the fastening edge (15). The axial sealing tab extends axially outward relative to the passage opening (4) and contacts an inside of a fuel tank cover (7, 8) located in the closed position. The fuel tank cover is pivotably mounted on the recess element (1).
