Summary:The invention discloses a dual purpose kiln for cooling and heating ceramsite. The dual purpose kiln comprises a cooling kiln and a heating kiln; the front end of the cooling kiln is provided with a feed port; the rear end of the cooling kiln is provided with a discharge port; a conveying belt is arranged in the cooling kiln; the rear end of the heating kiln is provided with an air exhaust port which is connected with an air exhauster; a material box is arranged in the heating kiln; and the cooling kiln and the heating kiln are communicated through a connection device. The dual purpose kiln cools the calcined ceramsite and simultaneously heats ceramsite which is not preheated by using heat generated by the calcined ceramsite to ensure that the ceramsite has certain temperature before preheating, so energy sources required by preheating are reduced and preheating time is reduced.
