Summary:Disclosed is a method for producing a yeast having an increased cellulose hydrolysis ability. The method comprises a step of introducing both an increased integration copy number of a gene for an enzyme capable of hydrolyzing a crystalline cellulose and an increased integration copy number of a gene for an enzyme capable of hydrolyzing a non-crystalline cellulose into a cellulose-unhydrolyzing yeast to produce a transformed yeast. The yeast having an increased cellulose hydrolysis ability can be used suitably for the production of ethanol from a cellulosic substance.
