The invention relates to a preparation method of a calcium borate whisker. The method comprises the following steps of: (1) preparing precursor: adding alkali into boron compound-containing solution, dropping calcium-containing solution into the solution after reaction at the temperature of 40-75 DEG C, and continuously performing the thermal reaction after dropping to obtain white milky suspension slurry; (2) pouring the white milky suspension slurry into a reaction kettle, wherein the filling degree of the reaction kettle is 50%-70%; and putting the reaction kettle into a homogeneous phase reactor for the hydro-thermal reaction to obtain suspension liquid; and (3) naturally cooling the suspension liquid, filtering, washing and drying to obtain a calcium borate whisker. The preparation method is simple in operation and low in cost, and the calcium borate whisker obtained by the preparation method is better in microcosmic appearance, high in product purity, and high in yield.
