A cam follower for a rocker arm is provided with a circular cylindrical outer ring (11) having an outer peripheral surface making contact with a cam, a support shaft (6) for supporting the outer ring (11), rollers (12) arranged in an annular space between the support shaft (6) and the outer ring (11), and side plates (16) formed as circular ring-shaped discs, allowing the support shaft (6) to penetrate therethrough, facing end surfaces (15) of the rollers (12), and having an outer diameter (Ds) less than the inner diameter (Dr) of the outer ring (11). The side plates (16) are located at opposite ends of each of the rollers (12) and satisfy the relationship of Lr<Lk+2t, where Lk is the length of each of the rollers (12) in the direction of the axis thereof, Lr is the length of the outer ring (11) in the direction of the axis thereof, and t is the thickness of each of the side plates (16).
