The invention discloses 2-(thio-2-ethylhexyl)benzoxazole, a preparation method thereof and a palladium-platinum extraction method by using the compound, belonging to preparation and application of the oxazole heterocyclic compound. The molecular formula of the compound is C15H21NOS, Mr264.14. The preparation method comprises the following steps: dissolving a certain amount of 2-thiobenzoxazole with a defined amount of acetone, adding equimolar potassium hydroxide, heating and stirring to reflux, dropping equimolar 2-ethylhexyl bromide, and filtering to collect solvent. The extraction method comprises the following steps: preparing aqueous phase to ensure that the HCl concentration of the palladium-platinum mixed feed liquor is 0.1-0.5mol/L; preparing organic phase, mixing the two phases according to a ratio of 1:1 to ensure that palladium is transferred from the aqueous phase to the organic phase, and using 1.0mol/L of thiourea to reextract palladium. The compound of the invention hasgood palladium extraction
