The invention provides an ester preparation method and a transparent candle containing the ester. The method comprises the following steps: a) combining a molar quantity of di (trimethylolpropane), an esterification catalyst, and a molar quantity equal to at least about four times the molar quantity of di (trimethylolpropane) of at least one fatty acid of formula RCOOH; b) heating the mixture to the reaction temperature and maintaining for a reaction time, during the reaction time, distilling water out by four times of molar quantity of di (trimethylolpropane); and c) separating out the ester with structure I.
