Summary:A thermoplastic composition is a blend of the following materials: a first thermoplastic, a second thermoplastic and an additive with a component selected from the group consisting of a third thermoplastic, fire retardant additive, reinforcing agent, electrically conductive filler, non-electrically conductive filler and combinations of two or more of the foregoing. The first thermoplastic includes poly(arylene ether). The second and third thermoplastics are selected from the poly (alkenyl aromatic) resin, rubber modified poly(alkenyl aromatic) homopolymer resin, polyamide, polyolefin, and combinations of two or more of the foregoing. The composition includes butyraldehyde having with a weight smaller than or equal to 800 weight ppm, trimethyl anisole with a weight smaller than or equal to 30 weight ppm, and toluene with a weight smaller than or equal to 00 weight ppm, based on the total weight of the poly(arylene ether).
