Summary:The invention relates to steel, in particular to high-strength and low-temperature tough steel. The tough steel is characterized by comprising the following chemical components in percentage by weight: 0.26-0.35 percent of C, 0.1-0.4. percent of Si, 0.20-1.55 percent of Mn, not more than 0.030 percent of P, not more than 0.010 percent of S, 0.10-0.30 percent of Mo, two or more of not more than 0.25 percent of Cr, not more than 0.20 percent of Ni, not more than 0.20 percent of Cu, not more than 0.20 percent of V and not more than 0.05 percent of Ti, and the balance of Fe. The invention has the advantages of pure steel quality, stable texture, high strength, stability, favorable low-temperature toughness at 40 DEG C below zero, simple process, lower cost and benefit to popularization and application. The steel is the most suitable to be used for engineering machineries and railway accessories used under low temperature conditions in alpine regions, such as joint bars for railway steel rail and the like.
