Summary:The invention relates to a method for filling an area based on chain code description. The conventional method has the disadvantages of low processing speed and large occupied memory space. The method comprises the following steps of: searching outline points one by one by using an eight-neighborhood outline tracing algorithm; saving a searched outline point P(xi,yi) into a chain table Point; determining the type of the point according to direction codes DIn and DOut of the outline point; judging whether the chain table is empty or not; if the chain table is not empty, taking one outline point out from the chain table; judging color of the outline point P(xi,yi); and finally, filling a scanning line according to the type of the current outline point. The method for filling the area based on the chain code description has high processing speed and improves the area filling efficiency.
