Torsion angle sensor
A torsion angle sensor for measuring the torsion angle of two shafts (3,4) coupled with one another having two planetary gear sets (6,7) coupled via a shared planet carrier (12), with the sun gear (8,9) of each gear set being connected to one of the two shafts (3,4) respectively; including an arrang...

Summary: | A torsion angle sensor for measuring the torsion angle of two shafts (3,4) coupled with one another having two planetary gear sets (6,7) coupled via a shared planet carrier (12), with the sun gear (8,9) of each gear set being connected to one of the two shafts (3,4) respectively; including an arrangement whereby when a torsion angle is created between the two shafts, a movable internal gear (14) of one of the planetary gear sets is rotated corresponding to the torsion angle, with its outer surface driving a sensor gear (16), which is connected to a rotational position sensor (18), the output signal of which is proportional to the torsion angle. Two shafts (3,4) are connected with each other through a torsion rod (5) so that the torsion angle is proportional with the torque between the two shafts. The sheared planet carrier (12) can also be connected with at least one additional sensor gear (15,15') which drives a second rotation position sensor (17) that generates an output signal proportionally with the abso |
