Summary:This invention provides an exhaust gas purifier which is not subjected to significant restriction in layout and can realize space saving. In the exhaust gas purifier, a cylindrical first casing (10) with an oxidation catalyst and a PM collection filter housed therein and a cylindrical second casing (20) with a reduction catalyst and an ammonia oxidation catalyst housed therein are disposed closely to each other substantially parallel to mutual axes (10a, 20a). Further, a communication pipe (30) for connecting both the casings in their far ends to each other is provided so that the axis (30a) of the communication pipe is substantially parallel to the axes (10a, 20a) of the casings. An exhaust gas passage extended from the first casing (10) to the second casing (20) is folded back by the communication pipe (30). A nozzle (31) for jetting a liquid reducing agent into the exhaust gas is provided in the communication pipe (30).
