Summary:The invention relates to a sewing machine capable of adjusting a thread tension and a thread tension setting method for setting the thread tension. A position specifying part of the sewing machine specifies a position set in a sewn pattern or used for changing a thread tension value, namely a specified position. A transfer mechanism transfer processed cloth according to the specification of the position specifying part so that the specified position on the processed cloth is moved to a needle drop site. An operator can observe and determine the practical needle drop site on the processed cloth and easily and reliably set the thread tension value.
