Summary:A system (10) for pre-lubricating an engine (12) is disclosed. The system (10) has the engine (12), a first pump (22) driven by the engine (12) to lubricate the engine (12), and a second pump (42) configured to lubricate the engine (12). The system (10) also has at least one component driven by the engine (12) and fluidly connected downstream of the second pump (42) and upstream of the engine (12). System (10) further has a sensor (54) located at the engine (12) to generate a signal indicative of an engine lubrication status. Starting of the engine (12) is inhibited based on the engine lubrication status.
