Summary:A failure detect device can properly detect the abnormity in speed change. The failure detect device (10) detects whether a failure of the peripheral component (22a) of a rotating shaft (21a) occurs through detecting the vibration generated on a device (20) with the rotating shaft (21a). The failure detect device comprises the following components: a vibration detection mechanism (11) which detects the vibration of the device (20); a rotation speed detection mechanism (12a) which detects the rotation speed of the rotating shaft (21a); an analysis mechanism (32) which calculates out a vibration spectrum that is detected by the vibration detection mechanism (11) and calculates the actually measured vibration grade which aims at the time of each vibration through dividing the frequency component of the calculated spectrum by the rotation speed detected by the rotation speed detection mechanism (12a); and an analysis mechanism (33) which analyzes whether the failure of the peripheral component (22a) exists based
