Summary:The present invention relates to a heat insulation functional gradient material obtained by pressing, sintering a tri-layer mixed material composed of metal phase Ni and ceramic phase ZrO2 with different content in each layer. The variant range of Ni weight percentage is 0-60%, while variant range of ZrO2 weight percentage is 40-100%. The ceramic phase mainly includes ZrO2, and further Y2O3 in mol percentage of 6-10%. The production process includes overlapping three layers of mixed material sequentially, pressing under pressure of 35-50MPa to produce a green body, sintering the green body in an inert gas atmosphere under the temperature 1300-1500 DEG C.. The material is applicable for heat insulation material for internal combustion engine.
