An electro-optic display comprises a soleplate comprising at least one pixel electrode, a layer of a solid electro-optic medium adjacent to the pixel electrode, a euphotic electrode arranged at the opposite sides of the electro-optic medium away from the soleplate, a protection and/or barrier layer arranged at the opposite sides of the euphotic electrode away from the electro-optic medium and a sealing material for preventing materials from environment entering the electro-optic medium, arranged along the periphery of the layer of the solid electro-optic medium, and extending to the protectionand/or barrier layer from the soleplate.
