Summary:A screw centrifuge comprises a rotor having a drum (2) and the drum has a horizontal axis of rotation (D). Besides the drum (2) having a horizontal axis of rotation (D), the screw centrifuge also comprises a screw member (3) arranged in the drum and rotatable at a differential speed relative to the rotatable drum; bearing elements (10, 11) arranged at both axial ends of the drum (2) and used for supporting the drum (2); spring elements (17, 18) for elastically supporting the drum (2) on a machine frame (16) or a base, wherein at least two spring elements (10, 11) for supporting the drum (2) are respectively arranged at the two axial ends of the drum and the spring elements (17, 18) are orientated vertically or essentially vertically. The spring elements are used for elastically supporting the drum on a machine frame or on a base and also play the action of pressing elements in the non-radial direction. The ratio of the length of the rotor or the drum to the diameter of the rotor or the drum is greater than 2.
