Summary: | The invention relates to a catalyst composition for performing ethylene oligomerization and application thereof. The catalyst composition comprises a chromium compound a, P and N-containing ligand b, an activator c, an accelerant d and P-containing ligand e, wherein the mol ratio of the a to the b to the c to the d to the e is 1:0.5-10:50-3,000:0.5-10:0.5-10. The catalyst is used for performing ethylene oligomerization to prepare 1-octene, wherein the five compositions of the a, the b, the c, the d and the e are mixed for 10 minutes in the presence of nitrogen and added into a reaction kettle, or are directly added into the reaction kettle; and ethylene is introduced into the reaction kettle to perform oligomerization reaction, wherein the reaction temperature is between 30 and 200 DEG C,the reaction pressure is between 0.5 and 20.0 MPa, and the reaction time is between 0.1 and 2 hours.
