The invention discloses a method for realizing the upgrading of remote software in a multimedia terminal and a device thereof. The method comprises the following steps: other services in the total memory of the multimedia remote terminal are stopped; an upgrading module obtains a memory for storing a software upgrading version from the total memory; the software upgrading version is received by a network upgrading server and stored in the memory; the upgrading module carries out checkout to the software upgrading version stored in the memory; and the upgrading module stores the software upgrading version after the checkout in a target position of a flash memory, thereby completing the upgrading process.
