Summary:When performing DVD-RAM recording, if a header unit can detect at least one address mark (hereinafter, referred to as AM), GAP performs a test light emission for controlling laser power and normal recording is started at GUARD1. If a reproduction data delay time is increased and judgment is made whether a fourth AM (hereinafter, referred to as AM4) can be detected, the GAP head may have been passed at the moment when the AM4 can be detected and the GAP cannot perform normal test light emission. There is provided an optical disc recording device in which GAP emits test light as in the conventional way if one of the first to the third AM can be detected. According to the result, the laser power is controlled and normal recording is started at GUARD1. When only AM4 can be detected, normal recording is started at GUARD1 without performing test light emission by the GAP.
