The invention provides a roller hardening inductor and the using method thereof, belonging to the field of induction heat-treatment equipment. The inductor comprises upper layer line-frequency induction coil, a lower layer line-frequency induction coil and an insulating layer therebetween, when a roll is hardened, the rotating speed is 10-60r/min, the moving speed of the induction coils on the roll body needing to be hardened is 0.25-2.25mm/s, the temperature of the upper layer induction coil through the roll body is controlled below 20-40 DEG C by controlling the power of the upper layer induction coil. The invention has the advantages that: the hardenging layer of the roll is deepened, the heat treatment quality of the full hardening layer is improved, the service life of the roll is extended and the processing cost of the roll is lowered.
