Summary:The invention is applicable to the data treatment field of streaming media and provides a method and a device used for playing and controlling the data of the streaming media. The method includes the following steps of transmitting conversation connecting SIP information to a streaming media server and setting up a SIP conversation connecting channel together with the streaming media server; transmitting the streaming media playing and controlling SIP information to the streaming media server by the SIP conversation connecting channel and carrying the streaming media playing and controlling information. The invention needs not to remigrate new protocols at a playing terminal supporting the SIP protocol and the streaming media server and can enrich the control mode on a streaming media data flow and enhance the control function on the streaming media data flow only by an information body of the SIP information.
