Summary:According to the invention, a lamp-pumped laser (1) with a flash lamp (5) for a lamp-pumped laser rod (4) includes a sensor (7) that detects the optical pumping power of the flash lamp (5), and a control unit (10) connected to receive an output signal from the pump light sensor and to increase the electric power of the pump light source (5) on the basis of the detected optical pumping power and in correspondence with a predetermined rise characteristic of the optical pumping power. Thereby, the electric power of the pump light source (5) is increased on the basis of the detected optical pumping power and in correspondence with a predetermined rise characteristic of the optical pumping power in a controlled manner.
