Summary:The mould (1), comprising two opening half-moulds (2A, 2B), each comprising a mould holder (8A, 8B), a shell holder (9A, 9B) and a shell (20A, 20B) with a base (5) to form a mould cavity (21), uses mould shells of different heights to make containers, especially blow-moulded thermoplastic bottles. For shorter bottles the mould base is raised and supported by radial reinforcing elements (25A, 25B) inside the shell holders. The reinforcing elements make no contact with the mould shells while the mould pressure compensators (16) are in operation.
