Summary: | A power supply unit for electrodischarge machining applies voltage of positive and negative polarities across a gap between an electrode and a workpiece. The power supply comprises control means that applies first voltage pulses across the gap for a period (T1), waits a period (t) after the period (T1) so as to prevent switching means from damage, and applies second voltage pulses of the polarity opposite to the first voltage pulses for a period (T2a) until the voltage across the gap reaches a predetermined voltage below the voltage (Va) at which a discharge begins. Since the remaining voltage across the gap is thus removed quickly, steady and quality machining can be carried out. |
