Summary:A conveyor (12) moves the hollow body (esp. bottle) on a circular path through an inspection region, where it is tuned about an axis of symmetry, parallel to the axis of the circular path. A unit (16) illuminates the body in the inspection region. A photodetector receives the light from the body. Plane mirrors (34) are arranged at a given angle to one another in the light path between the inspection region and the photodetector. The speed of the conveyor and of the rotation of the body are chosen so that the body makes one turn in the inspection zone and 1/n of a turn for each of n mirrors. The angle between one mirror and another, with the plane of the mirror at right angles to the plane of the conveyor tracks, is 1/n of the total angle of the inspection region.
