Summary: | A built-in unit with a number of air-heating pipes (3, 4) can be fastened above the hearth (F) of a fireplace in such a manner that the pipes (3, 4) extend transversely through the smoke-gas flow and their outlet ends (4a) open under the upper edge of the firing opening into the room in front of the fireplace. Air, which is delivered by a blower, is supplied through a pipe (7) to the inlet ends (1) of the pipes (3, 4). The air can be drawn from the room and/or from the open. It is heated in the pipes (3, 4) by active heat exchange with the smoke gases and emerges into the room through the outlet ends (4a). This fireplace insert is simple and cheap and can be used in existing fireplaces without rebuilding work. |
