Summary:For the continuous casting of steel, use is made of a continuous casting machine which has a rotating casting wheel (10) with a circumferential channel (G). Over part of its length, the circumferential channel is covered by a metal belt (11). The metal belt is brought into contact with the circumferential channel, then moved together with the latter around the lower part of the casting wheel and then moved away from the latter. A moving curved continuous casting mould is thereby formed. The molten steel is poured into the curved mould and the casting wheel and metal belts are simultaneously cooled so that the steel solidifies in the curved mould. The cast strand is removed from the casting wheel and straightened. An improvement in structure can be achieved.
