Summary:Anti-inflammatory 4-substituted 1,2-diphenyl-3,5-dioxopyrazolidines of the formula I < IMAGE > are prepared by reacting compounds of the formula II < IMAGE > with a triarylphosphorane derivative of the formula III < IMAGE > An etherified hydroxyl group which may be present is then removed by means of mild Lewis acids.
