By means of this conveying device for conveying workpieces between processing machines, the workpieces are to be removed by a manipulating implement from a precisely defined first position of the conveying device and, after processing, deposited at a second position of the conveying device, which is also precisely defined. A stationary loading station (5) and an unloading station (6) are respectively arranged on each processing machine, which stations interact with a workpiece magazine (3) which is suspended on a travelling carriage (1) of an overhead line. The suspended workpiece magazine, which is a so-called bar stop carrier, on which the workpieces are arrayed in vertical position, has on its lower end upwardly pointed detent pawls, on which the workpieces are supported during conveying. The loading station (5) and unloading station (6) each have a platform which can be raised and pivoted by a lifting cylinder and which, together with a holding device in each case, serve for the individual removal and/or loading of the suspended magazines (3).
