Summary:In a projectile comprising a metallic shell with a tapering nose-shaped section at its front end, enclosed in a cavity, a fluorohydrocarbon coating is applied to the shell and sintered thereon, to increase the penetrating properties, the cap has a nose-shaped section and a driving band which is in working engagement with the rifling on the gun barrel, and the nose-shaped section of the cap has the property of being disengaged on rotation.
