[Also in Division G2] A colour coupler of the formula is made by heating o-sulphobenzoic acid anhydride with 1 - [N - (2 - dodecyloxyphenyl)- carbamylmethyl] - 3 - aminopyrazolone - (5), which is made by reacting diethyl mono-imino malonate with 2-dodecyl-hydrazinoacetanilide. The latter is obtained by reacting hydrazine hydrate with 2-dodecyloxy-chloracetanilide made by reacting chloracetyl chloride with 2-dodecyloxyaniline, the latter being obtained by hydrolysing 2-dodecyloxy-acetanilide made by refluxing 2- acetaminophenol with dodecyl bromide. Couplers of the general formula where R 1 is alkyl of 1-20 C, arylamino or acylamino, R 2 is H or alkyl of 1-18 C and R 3 is H, alkyl of 1-20 C, aryl or a heterocyclic group are made in a similar way.
