Summary:1,222,945. Dispersions of basic dyes. CIBA Ltd. 27 Feb., 1969 [1 March, 1968], No. 10618/ 69. Heading D1B. Dispersion of water-soluble basic dyes in organic liquids at least partially miscible with water or in a mixture of such a liquid and water. The dispersion medium may be a polyhydric alcohol or, ether thereof or a water soluble.polyether, water-soluble liquid amide, lactam, lactone, or nitrile which may contain a hydroxyl group, a carboxylic acid ester, sulpholan, dimethyl sulphoxides, dioxane or tetrahydrofuran. Preferably the dispersions contains less than 5% of water and may contain a non-ionic or cationic surfactant and/or an anti-foaming agent. The dispersions are obtained by mechanical grinding e.g. in a ball mill or a sand mill, preferably to a size of 0.1 to 20Á preferably contain 10-50% by weight of the dyestuff and have a viscosity of 100 to 250 cp at 20‹C.
