Summary:An azo dye is prepared by diazotizing 3-pyrazolyl - 7 - aminocoumarin hydrochloride and coupling the resulting diazonium salt with b -naphthylamine.ALSO:Novel 3 - pyrazolyl - 7 - aryltriazolyl - coumarins of the general formula <FORM:1104537/C2/1> wherein R1, R2 and R3, which may be the same or different, are hydrogen atoms, C1- 4 alkyl groups and A is an unsubstituted or substituted phenylene, naphthylene or acenaphthylene radical or another aromatic radical, not being a radical containing a nitro group, are prepared by condensing 4-acetylamino-salicylidene-aniline and pyrazolyl-1-acetic acids of the corresponding formulae <FORM:1104537/C2/2> to give 3-pyrazolyl-7-acetylamino-coumarins of the formula <FORM:1104537/C2/3> hydrolysing the resultant acetylamino compounds to form the free amines, diazotizing the latter, reacting the resultant diazonium salts with primary aromatic amines and oxidizing the resultant o-aminoazo dyestuffs to form the corresponding triazole compounds. The novel 3 - pyrazolyl - 7 - aryltriazolyl - coumarins of the invention may be used as brightening agents.
