Summary:1,097,857. Automatic exchange systems. SIEMENS A.G. March 31, 1966 [April 1, 1965], No. 14201/66. Heading H4K. In an exchange system, a calling subscriber is initially connected through a switching network to a register which in dependence on the digits dialled is then connected, also via the network, to a relevant relay set (link circuit) whereafter a direct connection through the network between the caller and the relay set is set up, the " by-pass " connection via the register being released. The switches used in the network are not specified but the network may be a full access one having subscriber circuits and relay sets connected on the same or opposite sides thereof. The system may be a main exchange or a PBX. Outgoing call.-In response to looping of a subscriber's (T1) line, his line circuit TS1 transmits a start signal to a common marker MK which thereupon connects the circuit via the network KF to the inlet E of a free register. When sufficient digits have been received the register is connected over switch RAK to the marker, whereby a path from the outlet A of the register to a relevant relay set, e.g. outgoing set VU1 is set up. The register includes translation and sending facilities and proceeds to send its stored data over the outgoing trunk VL1. When the called party replies, the register is again connected to the marker which then selects and sets up a direct path from the calling line circuit TS 1 to the outgoing relay set VU1 and releases the paths to and from the register. Alternatively, the marker may store a preselected direct path which is immediately set up when the called party replies. Local call.-This proceeds as before except that the marker connects the register to a local relay set JVS. The latter is effectively short-circuited until the called party replies, supervision and feeding being performed by the register until this time.
