Summary: | The invention comprises adrenochrome monoaminoguanidine and salts thereof with hydrohalic acids, monocarboxylic and sulphonic acids. The compound is prepared by mixing an aqueous solution of adrenochrome with a salt of aminoguanidine, e.g. the nitrate, together with a sufficient amount of a mineral acid to catalyse the reaction, and rendering the solution alkaline with ammonia or caustic soda to precipitate an orange-coloured product. The compound may be refined by dissolving in aqueous acetic acid and precipitating with caustic soda. Adrenochrome monoaminoguanidine and its salts have homostatic and capillary-stabilizing actions and are used in aqueous solutions as injections. |
